This is our third subject specific report in 2021 and we thank all our Trend Trackers for your continued support in our first year under new ownership. A specific thank you to Steve Silverwood at ECA for such a comprehensive foreword, which has kicked this report off in style. They have and continue to support many bodyshops and other businesses to navigate the sustainability agenda, the go-to experts for the industry.
We are trying to change the way we do things and offer the industry an independent and unbiased research source to use, question and monitor. This report focused on the increasing talking point of Sustainability in the Supply Chain. Not just for our industry but also the UK and the world leaders at this moment. The UN Climate Changes Conference (COP26) has been the hot topic of conversation in recent weeks and the initiatives being taken by the UK and other world leaders highlights the fact we all must change to protect our planet. We have summarised the outcome of this in the report.
As Sir David Attenborough said: “it is time to rewrite our story”, our industry is a prime part of this.
Mobility of people is a key driver for energy and CO2 usage. We must as an industry take a stance to do our bit to minimise the impact for future generations. In 2016, transportation accounted for a quarter of the worlds CO2 emissions with road transportation accounting for around 18% of this (Capgemini, 2017).
This report will show you how our industry is taking strides, with input from some of our partners, subscribers, and market leaders alike. We need to see the industry move forward to protect future generations; we must do our bit to “rewrite our story”. A key part of this will be our EV Readiness, something we wrote about in our last report; infrastructure, skills required, insurance policy changes and new emerging services.
Finally, as part of this report, we have worked with our data partner Consumer Intelligence to create a specific survey to see what the UK public think to sustainability in the UK, their lives and in the automotive sector. We hope you enjoy this report, and we thank you all once again for your continued support.
